This session is an international scan of current developments in light rail planning and research. It focuses on new developments internationally and also reviews current light rail based research occurring at Monash University’s Public Transport Research Group.

  • Customer experience innovations including new and international practices of social media for rail
  • New Monash research on land use quality and place making design around light rail
  • An international scan of the impacts of light rail priority on performance and new innovations identifying pragmatic approaches to planning road space for trams
  • A review of new research ideas and directions affecting the field
